Race Rules
Everything you need is in the official race manual that's the single source of truth. Here are the essentials.
Every Nordic Chase rider is part of the General Classification (GC) ranked by total elapsed time from start to finish. That's the race.
How you ride within it is up to you:
🤝 Social — ride together
Drafting and group riding are allowed. We do this to keep the race social and welcoming.
🎯 Solo — your own effort, no drafting
Prefer to take on the route as a pure solo time-trial? Opt in to the Non-Draft Solo Classification. You'll be ranked in a separate Solo standings list, published alongside the GC, and you stay in the overall GC too. It's an addition, not a separate race.
-
The Nordic Chase is a test of endurance and resilience. Participants must be entirely self-sufficient from start to finish.
Self-sufficiency: You are responsible for all your own gear, food, water, accommodation, and repairs from start to finish.
No private support: Help from friends, family, or private support vehicles is not allowed.
Commercial services only: You may only use services that are open to the general public (e.g. shops, cafés, hotels, repair shops).
Accommodation: You may book accommodation in advance, but only after the official race manual with the final route has been released. Camping and power naps are also of course encouraged.
-
Follow the official GPS route
You may temporarily leave for resupply, rest, or sightseeing, but return to the exact point you left.
In the event of road interruptions or closures, riders are responsible for finding an alternate route to bypass the interruption and rejoin the official route.

Yes, we are lenient on this. However, accommodation bookings along the route are only recommended after the official race manual has been released (three weeks before the race start), as the manual contains the final, official race route. The current route displayed on this website can still be altered (for final optimizations). Booking accommodations in advance before the start date is allowed to reduce costs. However, we recommend booking your accommodations during the race because this will provide you more flexibility and you will be able to maybe share it with another participant(s).

No, outside assistance is prohibited.
FAQ specific to CPH → OSL races
-
No, we are not able to transport bike boxes from Copenhagen to Oslo, as we do not have a van large enough for this event.
However, you may bring your bike box to the rider briefing, where we can securely store it at the Go Nordic Cruiseline terminal. After finishing the race, you can take the ferry back to Copenhagen with us, and from there you can pick up your bike box again.
Please email info@nordicchase.com in advance so we can estimate how much secure storage space is needed.
-
We recommend joining us on the ferry back to Copenhagen. As we have a partnership with Go Nordic Cruiseline. Booking a cabin with us means a cheaper rate, entry to our party on the boat, and the chance to securely bring your bicycle on the ferry.
